TRC – DURI DUNGOWAN CULVERTS

As part of the extension of cast-in-situ concrete box culvert drainage structures to facilitate the
widening and upgrade of Duri-Dungowan Road by Tamworth Regional Council, Finn Valley played a
pivotal role in executing various essential tasks to ensure the project’s success.

Finn Valley’s scope of works encompassed:

  • Installation and maintenance of environmental controls in strict accordance with Fisheries Permits
and Tamworth Regional Council’s Environment Management Plans, ensuring compliance with
regulatory requirements and environmental stewardship throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Demolition of existing headwalls and responsible disposal of waste materials to designated landfill
sites, adhering to environmental and safety protocols.
  • Precise setout and excavation for the extension of base slabs, wing wall footings, and apron slabs,
laying the groundwork for the structural enhancements essential for the culvert’s expansion and
    upgrade.
  • Meticulous formwork, reinforcement, and casting of base slabs, crown unit extensions, wing walls,
footings, and apron slabs, employing industry-leading techniques to guarantee structural integrity
    and durability.
  • Strategic excavation, supply, and placement of rock scour protection measures, fortifying the
culvert infrastructure against erosion and ensuring long-term functionality and reliability.

Through the meticulous execution of these tasks, Finn Valley contributed significantly to the
successful extension and upgrade of the cast-in-situ concrete box culvert drainage structures,
enhancing the safety, efficiency, and resilience of Duri-Dungowan Road for the benefit of the local
community and road users alike.
