Finn Valley was engaged by Gwydir Shire Council to rebuild a 12.3km long section of the road after heavy rain flooding made the road impassable impacting directly on the local community.
The drainage works project involved the removal of existing damaged causeways and the construction of a number of floodway’s, comprising 2-lane concrete causeways, concrete encased multi-cell hdpe piped culverts and one large multi-cell reinforced concrete box culvert.
County Boundary Rd had to remain open to traffic throughout the duration of the project, which resulted in the construction of 6 by 6m wide temporary access roads around the individual work sites,
General causeway design required detailed excavation works to construct culverts and cutoff walls beneath concrete pavements, which was conducted successfully by Finn Valley’s skilled operators.
Finn Valley crews demonstrated their commitment to going above and beyond by working extended hours and weekends, to ensure all client expectations were met and the project remained on schedule.
The project was successfully completed months ahead of schedule with minimum disruption to the local community.
