SC – PUTTY VALLEY ROAD LANDSLIP

Singleton Council contracted Finn Valley to undertake a critical infrastructure rehabilitation project to address significant damage to a section of the road and the adjacent creek bank at Putty Creek. Located 9.6 kilometers from Putty Road, this area has suffered erosion and structural degradation, necessitating immediate intervention.

The primary objective of this project was to implement a comprehensive repair solution that not only addressed the current damage but also enhanced the resilience of the infrastructure against future events. The planned works included the installation of a scour protection system and a retaining wall along the bank of Putty Creek. These measures aimed to stabilize the creek bank and prevent further erosion. Works included community liaison, traffic control, all environmental checks, controls and waste management procedures in place prior to construction, quality documentation and ITPs approved. Additionally, the project involved reinstating the road surface to ensure safe and reliable transportation for the community

Key Components:
1.Scour Protection System: Designed to protect the creek bank from erosion caused by water flow, the scour protection system will mitigate the risk of future damage.
2. Retaining Wall: The retaining wall will provide structural support to the creek bank, preventing collapse and further degradation.
3.Road Surface Reinstatement: Repairing and resurfacing the damaged section of the road will restore its integrity and usability.

By addressing both the immediate repair needs and implementing long-term protective measures, Finn Valley aimed to enhance the durability of the road and creek bank, ensuring continued safety and functionality for the local community.

The project was successfully delivered on time and within budget with zero defects reported by the Client.
